This year, Japan organized the Olympic event, which was earlier scheduled to be commenced in the year 2020. But because of due to the worldwide spread of the SARS-Cov2 virus Pandemic that affected the whole world because of its deadly nature, the event got delayed & organized this year in Tokyo, Japan, from 23 July to 8 August 2021. There is a fascinating history associated with this event. But not profoundly going to that history, let’s have only some glimpses related to this event in India.

India took part in the Olympic games for the first time in the year 1900, with only lone participation of athlete Norman Pritchard who won 2 silvers in that event. With that member participation & winning, India opened her medal tally for the Olympic games. And from the year 1920 onwards, when India sent her first team to the Summer Olympic games, it participated every year in the Olympic games. But the ground of success in Olympic games is not suitable for India as India’s medal tally in every Olympic game is not of that appropriate level as compared with other nations like the USA, China, Japan,& many other countries. After the participation of Norman Pritchard, the Olympic medal tally of India with the Olympic gold medal was opened in the year 1928 when the Indian hockey team under the captaincy of Major Dhyan Chand beat host team Holland by 3–0. Since then, India has won a total of 35 medals, including Gold, Silver, & Bronze.

But, In this year’s Tokyo Olympics games, India’s performance underwent tremendous changes in its Olympic games performance by earning a total number of 7 medals, including 1 Olympic gold medal, 2 Olympic silvers, & 4 Olympic Bronze medals. This years’ Olympic gold medal in the Javelin throw segment has been won by Army personnel Nb Sub Neeraj Chopra, whose Javelin has covered a distance of 87.58 m for bringing gold to India’s medal tally. With this Gold, India has successfully registered its presence in this segment of the Olympics as well.

In addition to this Olympic Gold medal, India’s performance in getting Olympic silver medals to countries medal tally was carried by India’s brave daughter athlete Mira Bai Chanu in the Women’s 49 kg weightlifting event & India’s heroic son wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya who performed well & put together all of his efforts for the Men’s wrestling in the 57 kg segment. With their overall best performance in these games, they succeeded in earning Olympic silver for the country.

India’s tally performance was also enhanced by the participation of the athletes who brought the Olympic Bronze model for the country. The tremendous performance of athletes like P.V. Sindhu in Women’s Singles badminton, Wrestler Bajrang Punia in 65 kg segment of Men’s Wrestling, Boxer Lovlina Borgohain in 65 kg segment of Women’s boxing, & India’s men’s Field hockey team, had played a significant role in earning this remarkable tally of Olympic medals for the country.

Among these athletes who earned medals for the country, there were other athletes too who played well but were unable to achieve any success in this year’s Olympic event like India’s Women’s hockey team who played a very amazing game & gave a very tough competition to the competing team. Everyone was hoping for their success, but in the end, they didn’t succeed in earning any medal in India. Here, the thing that matter the most is their efforts, for which everyone paid colossal respect to all members of the team. Getting medal matters, but the thing that matters the most by keeping this reward of winning a title aside is the respect that all of these athletes who participated in the event have earned among the countrymen.
